Ancient Hydrologic Systems and Water Management in the Mediterranean Region 10-11th October 2024

On Friday, October 11, 2024, the Ripam 10.5 & EMUNI Conference 2024 was held under the title “Ancient Hydrologic Systems and Water Management in the Mediterranean Region: Rencontres Internationales du Patrimoine Architectural Méditerranéen – 16th EMUNI Conference.”

Several researchers from the ANTIGONE project attended the event, showcasing the latest research advancements in the regions of Cerdagne (France), Appennini Ligure (Italy), and Sierra Nevada (Spain).

During the conference, José Abellán participated in the session titled “Water and its Social Implications,” presenting “Jurisdictional Conflicts as a Form of Sharing-Practice: Water and Conduits between Cerdanya and Sierra Nevada (XVIII-XXI c.).” This work was a collaboration with Anna Maria Stagno, Ylenia Paciotti, Giulia Bizzarri, and José María Martín Civantos.

Laura Moro presented a paper titled “Water, Mills, and Channels: Between Rural Archaeology and History. Case Studies from the Western Ligurian Apennines (17th-21st c.).” Co-authored with Anna Maria Stagno, Alessandro Panetta, Caterina Piu and Sara Piras, within the session “Water and the Landscape: Changes and Possibilities for Conservation”.

The experience allowed the researchers to showcase the progress made in their respective study areas and to establish synergies with other researchers in the fields of water and management of environmental resources.x
